With small precautions, we can prevent major health complications, especially in case of children health. one should not neglect the health of children. Because small health problems may pose complications in future life, like urinary infections. Most of us think that these urinary infections exists in adults only. But these infections may create major problems in your child’s future. These infections may damage kidneys also and are more common  in summer.

We never take it serious when our children says that they have pain while urination. This may be due to urinary infections. These infections influence a lot on kidneys. Due to which blood pressure, lose of proteins may develop and it leads to damage of kidneys and if it is serious, kidney failure may also occur.

Where from this bacteria:

Kidneys  filters the blood and separates the wastages. Some water mixes these wastages forms urine that passes through and accumulates in the bladder and finally goes out. Due to the disposal of wastages from time to time, we maintain good health. Originally there will not be any bacteria in the urine but where from this infection. The main reason is the existence of bacteria in the entrails. Bacteria which  comes out from anus will enter in to the urinary system. In between anus and urinary way, there will be plenty of perineum bacteria. That enters in to the urinary system and develops. Through the blood also infections may occur, i.e infections in any part of the body may spread through blood and reaches the urinary system. This is more in new born babies.

How to find out:

With the urine analysis, culture, these infections can be traced out. Collection of urine also very important here. Sample should be taken in the middle ( mid stream ). After establishing infection, the reason for the infection must be analyzed with the ultra sound and MCUG tests. In ultra sound kidney shape, formational details will be revealed. In MCUG,  the entry of urine back into the kidney will be known.

Consequences:

Reflux nephropathy:- If we do not recognize the return entry of urine, the cells of kidney may damage and ultimately the size of kidney will be decreased.

Blood pressure:- If we neglect infections, one kidney will be damaged and that leads to blood pressure, due to which eye damage, paralysis, heart failure may occur.

Treatment:

When we suspect the urinary infection, initially this is treated with antibiotics. After obtaining culture results, appropriate medicine for that particular bacteria should be given. If infection is serious, medicine for 2 weeks & if it is moderate, medicine for one week will do. But after the treatment, the analysis  for the infection must be known and treatment for the permanent remedy is to be taken.
